Chris Delaney and his partner Amanda House are dedicated fitness buffs. He's a legally blind athlete and former firefighter, and she's a kinesiologist and personal trainer. When the Burlington, Ontario pair set out to create their own frozen yogurt, they made sure it was not only what Delaney calls a "super premium, high quality product," but also nutritious and allergy friendly.

On a hot June day in 2005, kinesiologist Amanda House wished there was healthy ice cream she could gorge on. Two years later, she got her wish. House and her partner, Chris Delaney, launched YoPRO, frozen yogurt with 16 g protein and 2.5 g fat for every 125 mL, in May.

Can-Fit-Pro Member Spotlight: Amanda House
How did you first get involved in the fitness industry? When I was young I was taught that it is important to help others. As a child, I was always enrolled in numerous different activities and as I grew older and learned the positive impact that physical activity can have on one's health and wellbeing, it was a natural choice to follow a path that would allow me to help others lead a healthier lifestyle. I pursued an Honours Kinesiology degree at McMaster University, my Personal Training Specialist certification through Can-Fit-Pro, as well as various other certifications. My education has allowed me to pass along my knowledge and improve the quality of life for others through rehabilitation, nutrition counselling, and personal training.

Our gym-buddy is mad at us. And not because we refused to do any more squats (again). This time it was because we spent half the session recounting the rich, chocolatey frozen goodness from the night before. Well, maybe we failed to mention that indulgent-sounding YoPRO is actually fitness food.

The two founders of Burlington's YoPRO Treats Inc. have high hopes of flooding the grocery and health food markets with a frozen yogurt that's low in saturated fat, trans fat free and tastes just like ice cream.
