With so many conflicting health messages, grocery shopping can be a confusing experience. To assist you with your grocery shopping, the Heart and Stroke Foundation has created a not-for-profit program called Health Check.
Healthy eating contributes to overall health. Health Check makes healthy choices easier by helping you to quickly identify products that can contribute to a healthy and balanced diet. This program is suitable for everyone in your family aged four years and over.
At the heart of the program is the on-pack Health Check symbol, and the Heart and Stroke Foundation name. Every food product involved in the program, in addition to the Health Check symbol, has an explanatory message and a Nutrition Facts table. The Health Check symbol on the package means that the product's nutrition information has been reviewed by the Foundation and it meets specific nutrient criteria based on Canada's Food Guide to Healthy Eating.
